West Indies have struggled so far in the matches against Zimbabwe, labouring to victory in the second game after losing the Twenty20 and the first ODI. What will give them confidence though is the return of the key allrounder Dwayne Bravo, whose presence – despite having not played for nearly three months – will almost certainly lift the team.

Chris Mpofu leaked 30 runs in four wayward overs during West Indies’ win in the second ODI, and although Shingi Masakadza held his nerve in a tense final over in the first game in Guyana, he too was expensive. Zimbabwe’s batting fell away in the second ODI, and that was one of the reasons behind their loss. They will hope the surface at Kingstown will be more suitable for batting and look to their top order to come good.

West Indies Team Sqiad :
1 Chris Gayle (capt), 2 Adrian Barath/Darren Bravo, 3 Dwayne Bravo, 4 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 5 Narsingh Deonarine, 6 Kieron Pollard, 7 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 8 Darren Sammy, 9 Sulieman Benn, 10 Nikita Miller, 11 Kemar Roach.

Zimbabwe Team Squad : 1 Hamilton Masakadza, 2 Vusi Sibanda, 3 Brendan Taylor, 4 Tatenda Taibu (wk), 5 Stuart Matsikenyeri, 6 Greg Lamb, 7 Elton Chigumbura, 8 Graeme Cremer, 9 Prosper Utseya (capt), 10 Ray Price, 11 Chris Mpofu.

The Auckland encounter didn’t feature the heated mood that simmered over in Napier, when Mitchell Johnson and Scott Styris clashed, but there remains some tension and the crowds have been vocal in their feelings towards the Australians.

The Australians will be without their vice-captain Michael Clarke for an indefinite period, who’s returning home for personal reasons. Cricket Australia is yet to decide on a replacement. That leaves 12 members of their squad fit and available for selection. Although the batsmen again failed to make use of their starts on Saturday, it’s hard to see Adam Voges being preferred to any of the incumbent men

New Zealand Team Squad : 1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Peter Ingram, 3 Martin Guptill, 4 Ross Taylor/Shanan Stewart, 5 Neil Broom, 6 Scott Styris, 7 Gareth Hopkins (wk), 8 Daniel Vettori (capt), 9 Daryl Tuffey, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Shane Bond.

Australia Team Squad :  1 Shane Watson, 2 Brad Haddin (wk), 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Shaun Marsh, 5 Cameron White, 6 Michael Hussey, 7 James Hopes, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Nathan Hauritz, 10 Ryan Harris, 11 Clint McKay

Both teams expect more simmering over the remaining four games in the Chappell-Hadlee Series, which will give an indication of where the current Australians should be rated. Ricky Ponting’s side is still No. 1, but its performances against West Indies are taking on new value now Chris Gayle’s men are losing to Zimbabwe.

Jacob Oram was helped off the ground at Napier after hurting his left knee and the result was a tear of the patella tendon, ruling him out for up to a month. A neck problem is still troubling Vettori, who didn’t bat or bowl at training on Friday, and Nathan McCullum is on standby. If Vettori is cleared he can come into the spot left by Oram. Michael Mason, the Central Districts bowler, has joined the squad as bowling cover.

New Zealand Squad :  1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Peter Ingram, 3 Martin Guptill, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 James Franklin, 6 Neil Broom, 7 Scott Styris, 8 Daniel Vettori (capt), 9 Daryl Tuffey, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Shane Bond.

Australia Squad :   1 Shane Watson, 2 Brad Haddin (wk), 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Cameron White, 6 Michael Hussey, 7 James Hopes, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Nathan Hauritz, 10 Ryan Harris, 11 Doug Bollinger.
